And secondly, wait for it, this book is written by a man.

Let’s welcome Rob Thomas, the author.

Hi, Rob. Thank you for coming on the show.

Hey, Vivian, thank you. And I love the fact I get the shout out for a lot of things. But being a man is certainly not one of them, so I’ll take it. I’ll take it. Thank you.

So Rob, I found your book and your background extremely interesting. And I really, I really mean extremely interesting.

And I would like you to begin with your background because that’s the way we can find out more about you and we can get a little context for your body of work.

So can you tell us more about you?

Sure. I have spent my career working with organizations who are going through change.

And I’ve worked with generally large organizations and whether they’re going through a merger or they’re, most of them are adopting new software across the whole organization. And this is generally not just one country but multiple countries. And I’m helping the employees manage the change.

And part of this is with a communication plan and then identifying what their current job is and in the new situation what their job will be and then helping them make that transition.

So I’ve kind of done that with a lot of organizations and bring in a team and kind of work through that. And I’ve done that in a lot of different industries, a lot of different organizations, a lot of different focuses.

And so it’s been a big adventure. And I think that that’s part of what’s really attracted me.

I like adventure. I like to solve puzzles.

And so I kind of parachute in and have an opportunity to meet people and people are a lot of fun wherever I go.

And that’s kind of the kind of work I’ve done.

It’s very interesting because it sounds a little bit like systems theory, a little bit of working with the system and a lot of communication, needing a lot of communication capacity and helping people with their communication and understanding.

And that’s of my particular interest, both those pieces.

That’s really good.

Now, let’s talk about your book now.

I really was super impressed.

I don’t want to go on a ridiculous amount about how impressed I am with your book, but in my line of work I fall into the personal growth field and I find that generally 90 percent of the participants in personal growth are female and 10 percent are male. I think that might even be a generous percentage that I’m saying here.

And then to be honest, those 10 percent of males who do participate more, they’ve got a very different profile from you, not to say the better or worse or anything, but just different kind of profile.

And so that was another reason that I found your book that interesting and that fascinating.

And then the next reason why I found your book so impressive was because the other relationship book that has impressed me was by Harville Hendricks called “Getting the Love You Want.”

And I found that book more depressing when I first read it. It actually upset me and I put it aside and then about eight, nine months later I thought, “No, I know that book had some truth in it, in fact a lot of truth, and I want to get the benefit of it.”

But it was challenging.

Then I pick up your book and I look at your book and it is uplifting right from the beginning.

It’s empowering right from the beginning.

And then it’s got this amazing message in it that’s very, very relevant.

And so I do want to sing the praises and I do want to acknowledge all of that.

But I’d like you to tell everybody else what’s in your book, Rob? What is your book about?

It is possible that you don’t know Aegirine and yet it is equally possible that you know Aegirine very well because it occurs together with Malawi smoky quartz, a very sought-after type of crystal and for good reason I might add.

Aegirine is like licorice.

It can be very dark green that looks black and it can be black.

The name comes from Ager, the Scandinavian god of the sea.

blockages, is the one that I discovered on my own when doing my research for crystal surgery.

And just to remind you the way I do the research is to identify a recurring property and once I have it in words that’s when I go to Melody and check whether she mentioned the particular property in her book.

I found that this method is more confirming than it try and look up which mineral purportedly has the desired property and then research the mineral because preconceived ideas are basically anathema to effective research for pretty obvious reasons.

So to finish the thought, in crystal surgery I use Aegirine together with Danburite with calcite to break up and clear emotional blockages which occur like knots in the energy field to literally scrape away with the calcite that’s on the Sybarite and then clear it with Aegirine.

When I asked my research assistants about Aegirine, including how it is formed, I got the following interesting answer.

Aegirine is one of the most structurally sophisticated minerals.

At first glance it appears almost severe, I can confirm that, black, blade-like, narrow, straightforward.

Yet that first impression is misleading.

Aegirine is not simple at all.

It is compressed complexity, a mineral that says a great deal with very little visible ornamentation.

A combination that I personally find utterly fascinating, because to me, my psychology is the composition of my personal interior. So from exterior spaces to interior spaces, let’s welcome Batya Srolovitz.
Batya, thank you for coming on the show.

Hi, thank you so much, it’s so nice to be here.

Wonderful. Batya, let’s begin with some landscape and some history. I always enjoy giving a context. So how about you tell us about your background?

Sure. Um I grew up in Los Angeles. I moved to New York City for college with the intention of becoming both an artist and a therapist. I had wanted to be an artist since I was five, so that was set in stone, and then I decided to add in being a therapist. So I majored in visual arts, I minored in psychology, and after graduation I worked as an artist, as I had planned for eleven years, um mainly making kids who both, which are marital agreements. And they’re usually art pieces hung on the walls.

Um since ancient times they’ve sort of been decorated. And I would you know meet with couples and I would design them based on their love story, their interests, their hopes, their dreams, what brought them together. So that was sort of my first um entree into working with couples and I loved it.

And then I slowly started becoming an interior decorator. Um I was found by mainly middle aged men who needed a female voice to redecorate their apartments and help them with renovations. And then after a little while doing that, um I was pregnant with my second child by that point, and I sort of had this inkling, this um yearning inside saying like it’s it’s either time to further commit to the interior decorating or it’s time to go back to school to be a therapist.

So I actually did something that I helped clients do now, which is I envisioned myself in the life of what I thought an interior decorator would be, you know meeting, with clients at stores, meeting with them in their apartments, talking to them about colors and fabrics.

And then I envisioned myself sitting in an office with lots of books behind me, talking to people about their lives, and my body just said immediately, that’s it, that’s right, that’s what you should be doing.

Spirit Report: Meeting a Spirit in Plant Form

Hi there. Welcome back. You’re listening to The Schapera Show and I’m Neil, very pleased to be sharing with you my shamanic Journeys to the Spirit realm and reporting back on the guidance I receive directly from the Spirits.

So the purpose of this Journey is to travel to the Lower world and ask the Spirits, request the Spirits, that I meet a Spirit in plant form. I go in through the usual portal in the Middle world, go through it going down, traveling down my beam which leads me to the Lower world, going down and down until I see a very green dense jungle-like area of trees below me and I land on a little clearing by a river.

And I say to the Spirits, I put my intention out, that I’ve come to the Lower world to request that I meet a Spirit in plant form. And straight away I’m told that although in my anticipation I was thinking about seeing a Spirit in a large form like a tree, that I actually must be attentive to be looking down because plant Spirits may just as well be very small like little flowers, like little leaves growing along the ground which I hadn’t anticipated.

And I look down and I see what looks like a very delicate vine with dainty little purple flowers and I have the understanding that I should follow this vine which leads me into the jungle-like area of trees. And I soon realize that this little thin tendril with flowers is actually just the end of a part of the vine and is leaving me to an enormously thick vine that is either wrapping itself up around a tree or in fact is forming a tree by itself.

And the vine, the plant Spirit says to me straight away that what the plants want to show me is how plants have played a huge part in helping people expand their consciousness. And it gives me the example of plants used in the South American jungles like ayahuasca which has helped people become aware that there are forms of consciousness way beyond what most people experience in our everyday consciousness.
