The Secret to Success

Welcome back to The Schapera Show, where Viv and Neil explore this big adventure called Life. This is the part of the show when Vivien speaks to crystals, and today, I am in conversation with Blue Lace Agate.
Listen to the Schapera Show here

I first encountered crystals when I was 10 years old, and Blue Lace Agate is one of those stones that I grew up with. I knew that Blue Lace Agate came from South Africa, but I didn’t realize it only comes from Southern Africa — actually Namibia — except for a very few small deposits in other localities like Brazil and the USA.

Blue Lace Agate is a chalcedony, and chalcedony has a host of healing properties. But what is remarkable about Blue Lace Agate is the color — the shade — of blue, and the nature of the banded pattern. I was lucky enough to acquire a Blue Lace Agate egg many years back, that taught me all about the significance of this pattern.

The information came forward when I asked my guides: “What is the best stone for the throat chakra?” And my guides responded with another question: “For developing the throat chakra or for supporting the throat chakra?” It turned out that the best stone for supporting the throat chakra is Sapphire, and the best stone for developing the throat chakra is Blue Lace Agate. Of course, this is a big generalization, because for any particular individual, the individual need can be different with regard to what’s “best.”

Blue Lace Agate revealed to me that as a chakra develops, its structure changes. We have a fairly simplistic understanding that a chakra is a vortex of energy, and that a chakra spins in a spiral. However, in the same way that the brain and nervous system develop neural pathways as we learn, and that brain tissue changes in structure and function as it develops, the etheric tissue of a chakra also develops pathways, and the etheric tissue also changes it structure and function as it develops. And the thing about the throat chakra is that the etheric tissue of the throat chakra develops into a pattern that resembles a lace collar, and takes on a specific hue that is exactly the blue shade of high quality Blue Lace Agate — sky blue with a hint of indigo-purple, forerunner to the third eye and crown shades — a blue color known as “periwinkle.” In other words, Blue Lace Agate exactly depicts the underlying potential design of the throat chakra, both in structure and color. This is what makes it so perfect for developing the throat chakra — it can inform the chakra and even offer a template for development.

Blue Lace Agate is asking me to tell you this now: “Self-expression” is one of the most poorly understood dynamics in the west. Westerners think of self-expression as the right to say whatever they want … but that isn’t self-expression, that is gross self-indulgence. Self-expression is when you develop the voice of your soul in this specific incarnation, in order to make your contribution to humanity and the world.

It is no coincidence that the throat chakra includes the voice. It is no coincidence that voice is a word that means so much more than just the capacity to vocalize; and it is also no coincidence that the throat chakra includes the ears and the faculty of hearing. As a society, we are big on “freedom of speech” and very short on listening, indicating severe imbalances in our throat chakra functions.

Many years ago, after much frustration, I decided to do a little research on “effective communication.” After three years of observation, I came to a conclusion: communication requires two dynamics — a sender and a receiver. No matter how careful the sender is, no matter how skilled, no matter how brilliant, if the receiver is faulty the communication cannot be effective.

Blue Lace Agate taught me that to develop the throat chakra, we should begin by addressing the most common make-or-break dynamic — that is, very specifically, creating a competent receiver — and that means, bluntly stated — learning how to listen!

When I was studying Psychology, back in 1975, I came across an absolutely wonderful book that made an extraordinary impact on my life and career: How to Talk so Kids Will Listen, and Listen so Kids will Talk by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish. Without bragging, I can say that I have been unusually successful in my career, and with great humility I would like to share that this book, together with the help from Blue Lace Agate, are the secret to my success. Written half a century ago, it is still a bestseller, available on Amazon and probably one of the most helpful books you can ever read — because even though it says “kids” in the title — this is about how to communicate successfully with other people, no matter the age, culture or religion. And this successful communication begins with “listening.”

Black Tourmaline: Master Healer

Black Tourmaline came right out of the gate asking to be described as a “Master Healer.”

“Well, well, well,” I said, “What makes you a Master Healer?”

“Look at all the new techniques you have developed by using me,” Black Tourmaline pointed out; and I have to admit, that’s true!

This year alone, Black Tourmaline has shown me:

  • How to reduce anxiety
  • How to correct bio-electricity
  • How to protect against EMF’s

And that’s in addition to all the other talents that Black Tourmaline has. Here is one excellent reason why we should regard Black Tourmaline as a Master Healer: Black Tourmaline not only protects against negativity it transforms negative energy into positive energy.

First, a fun fact: Did you know that Black, or Schorl, Tourmaline is also known as Aphrizite?

But let’s get to the point. I said that Black Tourmaline shown me how to do some rather important things this year, and I am certainly supposed to share that info with you.

To reduce anxiety, put a piece of Black Tourmaline in one pocket, and piece of Rhodonite in your other pocket — and see what happens in the next five minutes.

Black Tourmaline is a “stone of balance.” It can balance our left and right brains, it can balance our emotions, it can balance our mental state. And now Black Tourmaline is explaining to me what “balance” actually means. It is explaining that we must balance ourselves in the same way as we balance scales — we must allocate the same “weight” to what we consider “opposing” or “counter-energies” in order to achieve balance, like this:

Balance work and play

Balance reason and emotion

Epidote – Stone of Personal Power

The healing properties of Epidote, a stone that benefits Body, Mind and Spirit.

Today I want to talk about Epidote. I’m wondering how many people are familiar with this stone, and I’m hoping that after today’s introduction all of you who don’t know Epidote will request a personal meeting.

Epidote is usually a dark green color, almost black, like licorice, and it comes in different formations. I’m particularly fond of the hexagonal crystals, but it can also look quite a lot like Tourmaline, especially when it exists as needles included in Quartz.

In Crystal Surgery, we use Epidote in a very specific manner to pull the cords of socialization and criticism, including self-criticism. If this were Epidote’s only use, that would certainly be enough for me, because observing how destructive and limiting our socialization and experiences of being criticized actually are, and how profoundly internalized our self-criticism becomes, I understand the significance of shifting this dynamic.

When I look up Epidote in Melody’s encyclopedia, Melody says: “Epidote dispels critical-ness, enhances keen perception, stimulates participation and interaction, and supplements personal power.

“Epidote has been used to assist one in augmenting in the material world — augmentation of one’s wealth and/or of one’s possessions, as well as increase in one’s friendships, loves, relationships, employments, etc.”

Phew, that’s really a lot, isn’t it! I wasn’t actually registering that list consciously, but what I have been noticing is that Epidote always makes things feel better, and now I can understand why — in a nutshell, it expands positive energies.

Recently, I have acquired several stones that have Epidote inclusions, and these beauties have lifted my work to another level. We can get to that in a moment, but first let’s look at a well-known stone that combines Epidote with Feldspar — and that is Unakite. Unakite is a combination of Green Epidote and Pink Feldspar and it is a phenomenally soothing mineral that Melody says: “helps us to experience the beauty of love through enlightenment.” Unakite has many properties, including that it helps with gentle release of blockages.

Carnelian: Stone of Incarnation and a Bridge between the etheric and the physical

A few months ago, we talked to Sardonyx, and discovered that one of the components of Sardonyx is Carnelian. At that time, I said there is too much to say about Carnelian, and only mentioned that its name comes from “carni” which is the word for flesh. Finding this out startled me because of how Carnelian is used in Crystal Surgery.

Carnelian is a form of Agate and Chalcedony, bestowing many healing properties. Carnelian is a second chakra stone, not only because of its orange color, but also because Carnelian and the second chakra are both portals for incarnation.

The second chakra is the chakra of incarnation because it is the very first chakra to form, as it is the point of the umbilicus. When we incarnate, we are formed physically at the second chakra, by the second chakra in the second chakra. We form at the umbilicus, via the reproductive system, which is the second chakra, in the uterus which is in the second chakra. This is interesting enough, but there is another fascinating second chakra lineage: the egg that becomes you, was formed inside your mother’s ovaries (second chakra organs) when she was an embryo inside your grandmother’s second chakra. This generational aspect of the second chakra is very profound and the significance is not yet apprehended by our culture.
