What’s in an Energetic First Aid Kit?

After becoming interested in nutrition and alternative health topics as a teenager, I gravitated toward using natural remedies and have done so for my entire life. Upon reflection, I realized that my domestic first aid kit, and daily routines, reflect this aspect of my lifestyle, and I thought it would be interesting to share which items have stood the test of time.

Herbs: Calendula, Cannabis and Chamomile

Calendula is a natural, highly effective antiseptic that doesn’t only clean with an anti-bacterial action, but also stimulates healing. Cannabis is a powerful natural medicine that has been strengthened via hybridization and now comes to us in a variety of forms. Both CBD and THC can be accessed via tinctures, salves and more, providing relief to a variety of ailments that are physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual. Drops for insomnia and stress, and salves to reduce pain are being used increasingly as people discover the benefits. Chamomile tea is well-known for its calming effect and is used as a light tranquillizer to soothe the nervous system.

Aromatherapy Oils: Peppermint and Lavender

These two essential oils are … well, they’re essential to a first aid kit. Peppermint oil helps with headaches, back pain, colds and sinus, itching and insect bites; and can be used as an alternate to caffeine. Lavender oil helps with inflammation, bruising, shock, muscle pain, scarring, grief, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), insect bites, headaches and insomnia.

Vitamin and Mineral Supplements: Melatonin, 5-HTP, L-Theannine, D3, B12, Calcium and Magnesium

Melatonin, 5-HTP and L-Theannine help alleviate stress and insomnia. There is a world pandemic of Vitamin D3 deficiency to the point that even allopathic doctors are touting it; and deficiencies in Calcium and Magnesium are known to cause muscle issues such as cramping as well as sleeping issues such as insomnia.

Homeopathic Remedy: Arnica 1M or 10M

Arnica is a Homeopathic remedy for shock, trauma and bruising. To address a sudden shock, whether it is physical, emotional or spiritual in origin, a high potency dose is required. This needs to be ordered from a recognized apothecary that prepares homeopathic remedies and kept current, as it is used in an emergency. By definition, there is no forewarning that you are going to need it, so be prepared.
